Leigh Hosts Hyw 91 Career Fair
On Wednesday September 30, Leigh Community Schools held the 5th annual Highway 91 Career Fair. This is a unique opportunity for high school students across Highway 91 to get to explore different careers and hear a little bit about each of them.
There were many companies here from across Highway 91 and nearby towns to help inform the students about all these different jobs. High Schools like Howells-Dodge, Clarkson, Leigh, Humphrey, Archangels, Lindsay Academy, St. Edward, and the ESU 7 Learning Academy all got the opportunity to experience this.
Students spent the day exploring careers, connecting with professionals, and building skills to help prepare for life after high school. The day included an inspiring keynote from A’ric Jackson, four career sessions for each student, and grade-level breakout sessions focused on hope, leadership, job keeping skills, and mock interviews. Students also heard from Dr. Suzi Busby of Project Harmony about the importance of hope.
Freshman Ella Hansen said, “There is a lot you can learn from any career and any career you choose you can make a difference in the world.” T
There were also keynote speakers who shared their life stories to help make an impact on the students including Aric Jackson in the morning and Suzie Busby in the afternoon.
Mrs. Maddie Gall, the Leigh guidance counselor in charge of the event, said “It was so much fun to host the Highway 91 Career Fair! So much time and effort goes on behind the scenes by our Highway 91 counselors, and it’s all worth it when a student comes up excited about a potential career or internship opportunity right here in our communities.”
