FFA Attends Husker Harvest Days
On Wednesday, September 16, 37 FFA students grades 9-12 attended Husker Harvest Days in Grand Island, Nebraska, which is a 1,000-acre site that roughly 100,000 people visit throughout the three-day event.
While at Husker Harvest Days, students had the opportunity to walk around, look, and learn about new things. There over 600 different companies and organizations the students could connect with and talk to the hosting people to see why they were there and what their company was about.
The students all came home with a bunch of goodies they got from different places from walking around and stopping to hear and learn more about something they were not quite sure of knowing before.
A little past about Husker Harvest Days. The very first Husker Harvest Day was held in 1978 and the Leigh FFA chapter has been going for many years and will continue to go in the future. Husker Harvest Days had originally started to provide farmers and ranchers with a live, working field display for modern agricultural technology, machinery, irrigation methods, and other ag items.
When freshman Blair Wietfeld was asked about his experience he said, “Husker Harvest days were really fun and a great experience. I learned a lot about ag and got to see Jim Pillen being interviewed and him telling us some great advice. Overall, it was a great experience and can't wait to go back next year.”
Our chapter was also able to see our very own Luke Eisenmenn at Husker Harvest days serving his part as a state officer, which was a very cool experience to see one of our past members. Husker Harvest Days were very successful for the students, and we can't wait for what will happen next year.
