2024 Homecoming Spirit Week is in the Books
Homecoming week at Leigh Community Schools was held September 23rd through the 27th, and was filled with fun.
Students kicked off the week on Monday with a Western vs. West Coast dress up theme. Junior high and high school classes showed off their patriot pride by decorating doors and hallways.
On Tuesday, Leigh high school and junior high students traveled to Clarkson for a joint pep rally. The bleachers were filled with red, white, and blue because the theme of the day was Patriot Pride. The girls’ golf team competed in a triangular with Humphrey/Lindsay and Stanton, and the girls’ volleyball team swept Schuyler at Clarkson.
The Patriot pride trickled over to Wednesday as the faculty and students dressed in their comfiest clothes for Pajama Day. On the other hand, the high school students had to dress professionally for the Highway 91 Career Fair and Humphrey Public Schools.
Many Dynamic Duos and trios were roaming the school on Thursday. The volleyball team traveled to Lincoln to face the reigning NSAA Class C2 Champions, the Lincoln Lutheran Knights; the Patriots came short of a win.
The Patriots finished up the week with Class Unity Day. The 8th graders won this competition with their “Blackout” theme. There was another pep rally planned by the junior class and held in Leigh to celebrate the Leigh candidates. The Patriot sports earned two wins: the girls’ golf team won the golf quad in Leigh, and the football boys defeated Madison.
Homecoming royalty, senior Riley VanDyke, said, “It was nice to see that a lot of kids have good school spirit by dressing up for homecoming week. It was nice to see our school decorated with Patriot pride.”
