Leigh Students Attend “Reality 101” Workshop

On March 21, the 6th-8th graders attended a “Reality 101” assembly presentation at Lindsay Academy with other middle school students from area schools.

This was a presentation where the kids were given a life scenario and a family income. With this situation they had to find the price of rent, utilities, insurance, and other necessities. At the end they were given a surprise challenge where they hopefully still had enough money to cover the expenses.

The presentation helped them learn about budgeting and money management in the real world.  Mr. Hathaway helped with the presentation, and said, “It was a great exercise in showing kids that being a grown up isn't easy. There are a lot of things their parents and guardians handle on a daily basis. Sometimes things come up out of our control as well, but we still have to figure life out. The kids were also told to thank their parents or guardians for everything they do!”
