After a big win against the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs on Thursday, September 18th, the Patriot volleyball team was ready for the competition of the Stanton tournament on September 20th.

They were seeded #4 in the tournament, starting their day off with the first game against Cedar Catholic. They started the day off on a high note, taking down the Trojans in two sets, 25-21 and 25-15.

Junior Maizie Stoklasa led the Patriots in kills with 10, and Kendall Schneider gave 20 assists, leading the team.

After the win over the Trojans, the Patriots went on to face the Stanton Mustangs for the second time this season. The Patriots won the first set in a close battle, 25-21, while the Mustangs came back in the second set and defeated the Patriots 14-25. The Patriots didn’t give up there and came out firing the third set leading to the win, 25-10.

This time Ava Kasik led the team in kills with 11, along with Kendall Schneider distributing 24 assists.

In the championship game, the Patriots faced the Platteview Trojans. This game was very challenging for the Patriots. The Patriots trailed early in the first set and fought their way back, but it wasn't enough. They ended up losing the first set 18-25. The Patriots didn’t have the second set go their way either, losing 14-25. It was a hard-fought loss that makes the Patriots Stanton Tournament Runner-Ups!

With 8 kills, Ava Kasik led the team and Maizie Stoklasa followed just behind with 6 kills against the Trojans.

Senior outside hitter Ava Kasik stated, "We came out fiery in the first game and beat Cedar Catholic in two sets. Next, we played Stanton and carried that momentum from the first game to take another huge win. Although it didn't end the way we wanted it to, we really proved ourselves and what we are capable of."

After leaving this competitive tournament as runner-ups, the Patriots continue their strong season at 11-4!
