JH VBall Finishes 3rd In Patriot Tourney!
Every year, the Patriots host a junior high volleyball tournament, and this year’s tourney was held in Leigh on Saturday, September 14.
They Patriots started off the day with a disappointing loss to Howells-Dodge in two sets.
Junior High Coach Mr. Seth Cash said, “We were sluggish in this first game. We had a difficult time controlling the serve and had many service errors.”
Then they came back up with a win against Humphrey-Lindsay Academy “A” in three sets
In their final game of the day (playing for third place) they took on the Humphrey-Lindsay Academy “B” team and won easily in 2 sets.
“Against Humphrey-Lindsay A we struggled to find a nice, even energy, not too high, not too low. Thankfully we were able to bounce back and win in three. The girls then finished the day strong with a win against H-L “B” to take third. The plan for the day was to be playing for first, but mental mistakes and service errors hurt us. But overall, we still had a good day and had several players from the bench step up and help when we needed them.”
“Overall I think the tournament went well!” said 7th grader Bergan Settje. “It was a good opportunity for us to see what we did well and what we need to work on in practice,” 7th grader Bergan Settje said. “We faced a challenge during our game vs Humphrey-Lindsay, but with our momentum and communication, we pulled through and won the third set. I am excited to see what the coming games are like.”
