Patriots Sweep Warriors after Bergan Loss
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Clarkson-Leigh Volleyball team played two home games this week, both in Clarkson. On Tuesday, September 27, they matched up with a very good Fremont Archbishop Bergan, unfortunately losing in four sets. Then on Thursday, September 29, they swept Schuyler on Parents’ Night, bringing their record to 13-5.
Against Archbishop Bergan, the C-team and JV team won, but the varsity team wasn’t able to pull through. The varsity team went four sets after winning the first set 25-22 but losing the next three straight with scores of 21-25, 18-25, and 15-25.
““For the Bergan game we started the match out on such a high note with lots of energy and everything seemed to flow really well. We also did a great job taking care of the ball to start the game,” Head Coach Becky Schneider said. “But after the first set, Bergan made some adjustments and we struggled to stop them. Even though we battled, we just broke down and couldn’t recover. We just need to learn from it and move on!”
Freshman Ava Kasik, who recorded five ace serves and six digs against Bergan, said, “We started the game off well, but when Bergan made some adjustments, we couldn’t overcome and dug ourselves a bit of a hole each set.”
Against Schuyler, all levels played very well and came out with a sweep. It was a fun match and a great way to work more players into the rotation.
“The Schuyler match was a great way to bounce back and regain our confidence!” Schneider said. “We were even able to get our bench in and get them some experience because our starters did their jobs and took care of business!”
