C-L Boys End Games Before Conference
The Clarkson-Leigh Boys battled against Wakefield in Clarkson on January 25th. The JV boys started the night off with a close loss to the Trojans; the score was 26-28.
During the varsity game, Clarkson-Leigh fell behind in the beginning of the game. Besides their best efforts, the Clarkson-Leigh Boys could not catch up with the Wakefield Trojans, losing 38-60. Blake Loseke led the team in scoring with 9 points, and Tucker Matthies had a total of 10 rebounds.
Head Coach Jeff Bachman said, “I was proud of how we battled against Wakefield, who was a really solid team. We had too many turnovers to stay with them. We need to keep working on taking better care of the ball.”
The following Tuesday, January 28th, the Patriot boys played against Wisner-Pilger at home in Clarkson. The JV boys lost to Wisner Pilger 20-31.
The Clarkson-Leigh Varsity boys led Wisner-Pilger for three quarters, but Wisner-Pilger had 21 points in the final quarter of the game. Tucker Matthies, Korbin Lemburg, and Kyle McMullin contributed to the team with 45 points between the three of them. Kyle McMullin led the team in rebounds with 13, and Tucker Matthies had 12 rebounds.
Blake Loseke said, “I think that we played a very good game overall. We kept the lead for the majority of the game, and we were able to show the improvement from past games. I wish we could have come out with the win, but they started hitting a lot of shots in the second half that we just couldn't respond to.”
