Patriots Battle Eagles in Mid-Week Action
The Clarkson-Leigh Patriots had a night of marathon basketball on Tuesday evening, January 17th in Leigh against the Lutheran High Northeast Eagles.
Both the girls’ varsity and JV teams dominated. The final score of the girls’ varsity game was 51-37. They now have an updated record of 12-3.
“It was a good win after a busy weekend of games. The girls handled the ball well committing only three turnovers and got a lot of different shots at the rim. It was a good game to continue moving forward with momentum,” said Head Coach Matt Murren.
“We came out a little slow and didn’t play our best, but we had some people knock down key shots that got us moving. It definitely wasn’t our best game, but we got the win, and we know what needs to be done moving forward,” said senior Jessica Hoffman.
Unfortunately, both the boys’ varsity and JV teams weren’t able to snatch up wins. The final score of the boys’ varsity game was 31-55. They now have an updated record of 10-4.
“We did not play up to our standard and unfortunately let one slip away. We will learn from this one and get better moving forward,” said Head Coach Jeff Bachman.
“We had stretches that looked great,” said senior Kyle Holmberg. “That game is one we can definitely win if we play to our abilities. Hopefully we will meet them again in sub-districts.”
