BBB Falls to Defenders, Pendragons
The Clarkson-Leigh Patriot boys’ basketball team battled against the Archangels Defenders on the 17th and the Pendragons on the 18th of January.
In their first game, the Patriots had a heartbreaking loss to the Defenders at home, 49-59.
The first quarter was what led to the loss, as the Patriots got down 2-15.
The second quarter Patriots scored 16 while the Pendragons scored 15. The score at the end of the first half was 18-30 with Patriots still trailing.
After halftime, the Patriots continued to push, again outscoring the Defenders in both quarters. But ultimately, the first quarter deficit was too much to overcome and the Patriots lost by 10.
Head Coach Jeff Bachman said, “We got off to a really slow start and dug ourselves a big hole. I was glad how we fought out of it and made it into a competitive game. I was proud of the fire and intensity we showed. We are getting better, but we just need to find a way to put a complete game together.”
On January 18th the Patriots suffered another loss against the Pender Pendragons, this time not so close. In the first quarter the Patriots got down early again, trailing 7-25 against a very good Pendragon team.
The second quarter the Patriots only scored 5 points, while the Pendragons scored 22 points. At the end of first half, the score was Patriots down 12-47. I
The second half the Pendragons shut down the Patriots’ offense once again, and the Patriots lost 21-75.
Blake Loseke said about the game, “I thought that we could have done a lot better. I will give Pender credit because they have a great team, but I think that we could have given them more of a fight than we did. We just have to use it as a learning experience and use it to move onto the next game.”
The Patriots’ record currently sits at 2-13, and they look to pick up more wins as the season continues.
