Golf Team Fares Well in Back-to-Back Meets

By: Hannah Martensen, junior LHS journalism staff writer on September 29, 2025

Facing two back-to-back meets, the girls’ golf team traveled to Oakland on September 22, 2025, and then went to Humphrey on September 23, 2025, to compete in two 9-hole meets.

At the Oakland meet, the top 10 golfers were in attendance, forming a Varsity and JV team. All the teams present were Clarkson-Leigh, West Point Beemer, Pender, Oakland Craig, Schuyler, and Stanton.

The Varsity team tied for first with Oakland-Craig with a 227, and the JV team finished 7th out of 10 with a 248. Hadley Dlouhy placed 3rd with a personal best of 49, Emilie Hajek placed 10th with a 58, and Hannah Martensen, Halle Korth, and Ella Higby all finished in the top 15 all shooting a 59!

The next day, the JV team headed to Humphrey to compete again in a triangular. Humphrey, Clarkson-Leigh, and Stanton were all the teams competing.

Overall, the JV team placed 2nd with a 260. Sydney Messerlie placed 6th, shooting a 62, Shaleigh McAllister placed 9th with a 65, and Madi Freudenburg tied for 10th with a 66!

Junior Ella Higby said, “Both meets went very well, and I'm really proud of how we competed individually and as a team. All of our hard work that we have put in has really paid off. I'm excited to see what the end of the season has in store for us!”

“The girls did really well at the Oakland meet considering how tough a course it is,” said Coach Michelle Held. “Our varsity tied for 1st place with a really good Oakland team, and Hadley turned in her first score below a 50 for the season. Our JV team also really did exceptional being the top JV team there! The triangular at Humphrey was only attended by our JV. We wanted to give them another opportunity that was just for them. They placed 2nd to Stanton's Varsity. Sydney was our top golfer, with Madi and Shaleigh also placing in the top 10.”

Oakland Girls’ Golf Meet:

Hadley Dlouhy 3rd: 49; Emilie Hajek 10th: 58; Hannah Mårtensen 11th: 59; Halle Korth 14th: 59; Ella Higby 15th: 59; Liz Hoffman: 61; Madi Freudenburg: 64; Sophia Morfeld: 64; Shaleigh McAllister: 66; Sydney Messerlie: 70
