Golfers Finish 7th at BC Invite

The varsity Clarkson-Leigh girls’ golf team golfed in Battle Creek in an invite on Monday, September 16th.

Clarkson-Leigh finished 7th out of 12 teams with a score of 482. Wayne was first with a 375. West Holt finished second with 405 and Battle Creek got third with a 433.

Coach Morfeld stated “The girls stayed relaxed throughout the day, despite having to deal with a lot of native grass.  These areas required them to make a tough decision - either take a chance and hit it out of the long, thick grass or take the penalty stroke for a drop.”

Senior Brianne Kuhr ended up 22nd overall with a 116. Junior Emilie Hajek was 25th with a 119. Emily Stender and Hadley Dlouhy were close, getting 31st and 32nd with a 123 and 124 respectively. Sophie Morfeld was our final girl who competed, getting 40th out of 64 girls with a 134.

Brianne Kuhr said, “We had a really great meet on Monday. The Battle Creek course is the only course that we encounter native grass on during the regular season. Considering we had many lost balls, we competed extremely well.”
