Girls’ Golf Tees Up Success
To tee off the season, in one week the Clarkson-Leigh girls’ golf team had two tournaments on September 3rd and September 5th. Tuesday’s meet had five teams and Thursday’s meet had 11 teams. Tuesday they took the whole team, then Thursday they took the top 10 golfers.
“The team is ahead of where we were in previous seasons thanks to the summer golfing opportunities,” Coach Lynn Morfeld said. “We are seeing some powerful drives from the girls, but we still need to fine-tune our work on and around the greens. It was exciting to have two of our golfers in the top five of our first triangular (Sophie & Emilie) and to have one of our golfers (Brianne) close to being in the top 15 at the 11-team invite in Stanton.”
Senior Brianne Kuhr stated, “Tuesday and Thursday were great meets to start off the season. This team works really hard all of the time, and we are still able to laugh it off when we hit the occasional tree or many trees in Stanton. We are already competing really well, and I know that we will get progressively better. We have a good group of girls with great mindsets, and I know that we are going to have a lot of fun this season.”
