Patriots Pick Up First Win Against Titans

For the first game of district play this season, the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots traveled to Genoa to face off against the Twin River Titans on September 20th.

The Patriots entered the game winless compared to the 2-1 record of the Titans.

Both offenses started out the game firing with touchdowns on each of the opening possesions.

The same trend continued for the second quarter of play. The Patriots were able to gather a 12 point lead heading into halftime.

After halftime, the Patriot defense really tightened up to hold the Titans scoreless in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the Patriot offense continued to run up the scoreboard.

By the fourth quarter, Clarkson-Leigh was able to put in some of their reserves to finish out the game with a district win.

Head coach Jim Clarkson said, “We were able to get our offense on track, especially the running game. Tucker and Blake were able to hit the holes made by the O-line. Gave up some big plays on defense but tightened up in the second half. It was a good team win and now we need to stack some together.”

The Patriots are now 1-3 and hope to continue to improve their record in the weeks to come.
