Monday Night Lights
The junior high football team has kicked off their season with two home games, both held in Leigh.
The first of these games took place on Monday, September 9 against the Stanton Mustangs. The Patriots came out the gates a little shell-shocked in this opener, and Stanton dominated 62-12.
They bounced back the next Monday, September 16, though, defeating East Butler 30-22 to begin their season 1-1.
Leigh eighth-grader Jaxon Rodenburg said, “We definitely started off rough against Stanton and weren’t physical enough. But we are continuing to work and get better.”
JH Coach Jeff Bachman said, “It is fun to see them growing and improving. The group is working hard and figuring things out. I am excited to see us continue to grow.”
