FB Team Extends Win Streak
On October 5, 2024, the Clarkson Leigh Patriot football team traveled to Humphrey to play against the Humphrey/Lindsay Academy Bulldogs for a district matchup.
The Patriots entered the game with a 2-3 record compared to the Bulldogs with a 3-2 record. Both teams entered the game undefeated in district play.
The Patriots started with the ball on offense and quickly scored to capture an early lead. With a few defensive stops and more strong offensive drives, the Patriots captured a 22-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Patriots kept their offense rolling in the second quarter, scoring another 16 offensive points. The Patriots continued to play tight defense, only allowing six points and scoring a pick-six from senior Korbin Lemburg. At halftime, the Patriots led 44-6.
In the third quarter, the Patriots were able to move some reserves into the game and maintain their dominant position throughout the second half. The final score was 58-36.
The Patriots improved their record to 3-3 and are still undefeated in district play. They will play the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers next week.
Head Coach Jim Clarkson said, “This was a great win for the team to go into Humphrey and get it done. We have put ourselves in the tick of the district race. Guys keep improving, and that’s what we are looking for.”
