Patriots Fall to Pendragons

On Friday, September 13, the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots traveled to Pender, Nebraska, to play the Pender Pendragons in a varsity football game.

The Patriots came into this game with a record of 0-2 while Pender was 1-1.

The Pendragons came out swinging in the first half and never looked back. Although Clarkson-Leigh strung together a few solid drives and a score, they could not keep up the scoring. Pender led at halftime with a score of 34-8. The Pendragons continued to score throughout the second half, while the Patriots could not get their offense rolling. The final score was 8-47.

Junior Wyatt Crosley said, “I thought we did some good things, but when it came to defense, we couldn't get a stop on 3rd and 4th down.”

Head coach Jim Clarkson said, “It was a rough outing for us. We made too many errors versus a high-quality team. Hopefully we will continue to improve. District season starts now, and we feel like we can compete in our district.”

The Patriots look to bounce back next Friday against Twin River to begin district play.
