For it being the first year, we had about 250 competitors, which was fantastic considering the timing of the tournament. Next year, we are looking at making it bigger and it will move to the day after the high school tournament on February 7th.”
Youth coach Mr. Jorge Gomez stated, “It was our first tournament that we held as a club team and it ran great. We usually do dual tournaments, but we wanted to do something different this year. I was very proud with all our wrestlers this year. From first-year wrestlers to wrestlers that have been wrestling since they were 3, they all did great. Each year our club grows and grows, and kids are really starting to have fun with a great sport. Everyone left it on the mat and wrestled tough, which had us as runner-up as a team. Can’t wait till next year.”
