Large Group of Junior High Wrestlers!
This year there are more junior high wrestlers than ever before!
There are 18 seventh and eighth-graders out for wrestling this year, and they are coached by Mr. Ryan Molacek, Mr. Jarrod Bazata, and Mr. Jorge Gomez.
On Friday, November 15, the team competed at their first tournament in David City. Coach Bazata said, “The kids wrestled well in David City. The kids competed well for the first tournament of the year and for some of them this was the first tournament they have ever wrestled at.”
“All together it was a good turnout for everyone who went. “It was a very good learning experience, and I think it went well,” said seventh grader Bryce Tasa.
Results from David City
Jack Brabec – 3rd; Wyatt Eisenmann – 1st; Mason Faltys – 3rd; Nolan Gall - 2nd; Noah Jurgensen – 2nd; Jett Koehn – 1st; Darel Lopez-Cruz – 4th; Zane Morfeld – 2nd; Trent Olson – 3rd; Jackson Rave – 4th; Jackson Rodenburg – 4th; Xavier Ross – 3rd; Bryce Tasa – 1st; Blair Wietfeld - 3rd
Next, they had a flurry of meets in a short amount of time.
On Thursday, November 21, the boys had a meet at Newman Grove. On Saturday, November 23, they traveled to Howells-Dodge.
Finally, on Tuesday December 3, the Junior High wrestlers traveled all the way to Battle Creek.
8th grader Xavier Ross stated “On our first meet I lost my first match, but I won my second. I feel like our whole team did really well. Bryce went 2-0 and Wyatt and Jett as well. On our fourth meet, Wyatt was the only one who got second place and everyone else didn't do as good. I lost both matches off the start.”
Coach Bazata stated, “The kids have been working hard and really improving throughout the year. We have had some really tough competition the last couple of tournaments. With that being said, some of our kids have responded really well. We still have a long way to go to get where we would like to be, but it's nice to see kids go out and compete everyday, whether it be in practice against their teammates or in competition against their opponents.
We are molding a new Patriot way that is it's fun to go out and compete no matter the sport or situation you are thrown into. Compete against your opponents, teammates and yourself every day.”
