On August 8th, 2006, in Norfolk, NE, Heath and Michele Clausen welcomed their first daughter, Macy Clausen. Macy later welcomed her two siblings into the world, Averi, who is in 7th grade, and Jase, who is in 5th grade.
Macy’s grandparents are Jr. and Kathy Clausen of Norfolk, Nebraska; and Larry and the late Vickie Wietfeld, and Bonnie Johannes Fairburn of Leigh, Nebraska.
Throughout the years, she has participated in many school activities: FCCLA for 6 years, FFA for 3 years, National Honor Society for 3 years, Yearbook for 4 years, Journalism for 3 years, dance for 2 years, and One-Act for 4 years. Outside of school, Macy is involved in the Youth Advisory Committee, Steps at Tiffany’s Dance, and St. John’s Church Luther League.
The honors Macy earned in high school were Student of the Month two times.  She was also a State FCCLA champion in 2022 and 2023.
Outside of school you can see Macy working part-time at Steps at Tiffany’s Dance, shopping, hanging out with friends, and babysitting.
Macy’s proudest high school accomplishment was being a state champion for FCCLA two years in a row, and being able to attend and compete at nationals in San Diego, CA and Denver, CO.
Her future plans are to attend College of Hair Design in Lincoln, NE, where she will get both her cosmetology and esthetic license. She wants to work in a salon after graduation, then someday open up her own salon in the future.
If Macy won the lottery, she would definitely donate a large portion of the money to a children’s hospital, or donate it to cancer research. With the remaining of the money, she would make sure to save enough to pay for college, and then go shopping with the rest.
Macy would travel to Santorini, Greece, if she could travel anywhere because it’s a very beautiful place. Her Grandma Clausen and her have always talked about traveling there together. She thinks it would be fun to see the culture there and try new foods.
Macy says her biggest pet peeve is loud chewers. A bad habit of hers is talking too loudly when getting excited about something, or just at the dinner table talking to her family.
Three words that describe Macy best are bubbly, personable, and positive.
In 10-15 years you can see Macy owning her own salon, getting married, and starting a family of her own. She really hopes to come back to Leigh, or somewhere close to Leigh to find or build a house.
Three goals on Macy’s bucket list is to build her dream home, own her own salon/business, and travel to at least three different countries.
The person that Macy admires most is her Grandma Vickie. Although she isn’t here today, she taught Macy a lot when she was. She was always positive, and she tried to look at everything in a good way. She was always so proud of Macy and all of her other cousins in any little things they accomplished.
Macy’s favorite high school memory was attending the state games in all the activities the school has made it in and cheering in the student section. She said it was also a really cool experience for her to be able to dance at Memorial Stadium when the boys won State Football.
Macy has lots of favorites, but says her favorite subject in school is being Mrs. Held’s aide. Her favorite movie is The Hangover, and her favorite TV show is Outer Banks. Her favorite song is “Revival” by Zach Bryan. Macy’s likes to watch the Nebraska Huskers or the Patriots. Her favorite food is steak, and she enjoys eating at El Mezcal.
In high school, her most embarrassing moment was singing “Green Finch and Linnet Bird” at State One Act. “I am not a singer, nor will ever be a good one and had to sing like I was an opera singer, when in reality I sounded like a bird squawking.”
Macy's advice to underclassmen is, “As silly and cliche as it sounds, it seriously goes by so fast. Enjoy the little things and don't take anything for granted. Take those selfies with your classmates, underclassmen, and teachers, hang out with friends on the weekends, and try to make the days go by fast and have fun.”
We wish Macy the best of luck, and we hope she is successful in her future endeavors!
