Senior Spotlight: Brynn Settje
On April 30, 2007, in Norfolk, NE, Chad and Kristi Settje welcomed Brynn Grace Settje and her twin sister Baylee to their family. Brynn was welcomed home by her older sisters, Reagan (23) and Kennedy (21). She has a younger sister, Bergan (13). Her family wouldn’t be complete without their pet dog, Jax.
Brynn’s grandparents are Judy and the Late Gary Blessen of Creston, Mike and Cindy Settje of Leigh, and Tom and Sue Kabes of Clarkson.
Throughout Brynn’s high school career, she has participated in many school activities: FCCLA for 6 years; FBLA, Volleyball, Basketball, Track, One-Act, and Journalism for 4 years; and Yearbook and National Honor Society for 3 years. Some other non-school activities she is involved in include the Leigh Youth Advisory Committee and the Zion Lutheran Church Youth Group.
Brynn has earned many honors and awards in high school, including 2nd Team All-Conference Volleyball, C-2 State Volleyball Runner-Up, 3-Time East Husker Conference Volleyball Champion, 3rd Team All-Conference Basketball, FCCLA National Runner-Up, and 3-Time Student of the Month.
Brynn says her greatest accomplishment is being State Runner-Up in Volleyball in 2023.
Her future plans are to attend Northeast Community College to be a Physical Therapy Assistant.
If Brynn won the lottery, she would go on a vacation, buy her dream house, and go on a shopping spree. She would put the rest into savings.
If Brynn could travel anywhere, she would go to the beach, but specifically to Hawaii because she has never been there before.
Her biggest pet peeve is when people chomp their food. A bad habit of hers is biting her nails.
Three words that describe Brynn are hard-working, loyal, and responsible.
In 10-15 years, you can see Brynn having a job that she loves, being married, and starting a family.
Brynn has a lot of favorites, but she says her favorite subject in school is Culinary Arts. Her favorite TV show is Outer Banks. Her favorite song is anything by Zach Bryan or Kelsea Ballerini. Brynn likes to watch the Nebraska Huskers. Her favorite food is tater-tot casserole.
Outside of school you can see Brynn lifeguarding and doing swimming lessons at the pool in the summer. She also likes to hang out with friends and family, and go shopping.
In school, Brynn’s most embarrassing moment was all the way back in 5th grade when she tried to hurdle a mat in P.E. and didn’t make it, so she landed straight on her face.
Brynn’s advice to underclassmen is, “It goes by faster than you think it does, so enjoy it while you can. You will never be able to go back, so enjoy the time you have here.”
We wish Brynn the best of luck and lots of success in her future endeavors!
