Senior Spotlight Class of 2022: Audie Tejkl

By: Kennedy Settje, a senior at Leigh High School

On May 7, 2004, Ron and Loretta Tejkl were blessed with their first child, Audie Anton Tejkl.

Audie was born in Norfolk, Nebraska. Audie has 3 older siblings: Andrew, age 31, Thomas, 33, and Elizabeth, 35. Audie also has two dogs, Jackie and Tank.

Audie has participated in a variety of extracurricular activities during his high school career. He has been involved in One-Act, FFA, and choir for 4 years; and speech for 2 years. Audie earned numerous acting awards in One-Act throughout his 4 years of involvement.

Audie sees himself back on the farm in 10-15 years, hopefully thinking about starting a family of his own. He also hopes to own his own house. Three of Audie’s goals on his bucket list are to travel to another country, buy a brand-new vehicle, and win a trapshooting competition. The country Audie would like to travel to is Germany.

Audie’s favorite subject in school is history.  When Audie is not in school, he can possibly be found taking part in his favorite hobby, trapshooting. He also loves the Cars movies because of the nostalgia he has with them. Audie’s favorite song is “Heart on Fire” by Eric Church and his favorite sports team is the Huskers. If he could choose any food to eat, he would pick mac and cheese.

Audie’s advice to underclassmen is “Find something that brings you joy, even if someone else may think it’s stupid. If you truly enjoy it, then that’s what really matters.”

When asking Audie what his most embarrassing moment in high school was, his answer was “Just one?”

The person Audie admires most is his dad because he works even when he doesn't feel like it. His work ethic is unmatched, and Audie strives to be like that someday.

Audie considers his worst habit to be procrastination.

If Audie won the lottery, he would help pay his parent’s bills and get them the house they’ve always wanted. He would help out his other family members and then spend the rest on himself.

Audie’s future plans are to attend Northeast Community College to major in Precision Agriculture. Afterwards, he plans to come back to work on the farm.

We wish Audie the best of luck with his future endeavors!
