Senior Spotlight 2023: Korbee Wendt
On April 27, 2005, Gary and Kandee Wendt were blessed with their first child, Korbee Mewis Wendt.
Korbee’s siblings are the late Wade Wendt, Kym Wendt, Krys (Wendt) Magsamen, and Karly Wendt, who is a freshman at LHS. Her grandparents are Judene Mewis and the late Jim Mewis and Earl and Joy Wendt. Her family wouldn’t be complete without mentioning her beagle-corgi dog named Biscuit.
Korbee has participated in numerous activities throughout her high school career. She has been involved in volleyball for 4 years, basketball for 4 years, track for 4 years, FFA for 4 years, FBLA for 3 years, Journalism for 3 years, Yearbook for 2 years, One Act for 4 years, and Youth Advisory Committee for 3 years.
While in high school, she has earned many honors including Volleyball EHC Third Team All-Conference, YAC Officer, AVCA Best and Brightest Third Team, and a multi-year letter winner in all of her activities.
Korbee’s proudest high school accomplishment is being able to make it to state three years in a row in volleyball!
Her future plans include attending Northeast Community College for two years to become a Physical Therapist Assistant. In 10-15 years, she sees herself with a good job and hopefully a family of her own living in a smaller town like Leigh.
If Korbee was to win the lottery, she would first pay off all of her debt and then purchase a very nice home for her and her family. If there is any leftover money, she would take her family and friends on a vacation to Hawaii and go shopping.
If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to Hawaii because it looks like an amazing place, and she would love to visit their beaches.
Her biggest pet peeves are when people chew loud or chomp their food and when people talk to her in the morning. One of her bad habits is always being late.
Korbee says the most embarrassing moment in high school was when she was a sophomore, and she was playing in her first varsity sub-district basketball game. They were playing Stanton, and she was so nervous that after her team had scored, she took the ball out of bounds.
Some of Korbee’s favorite things are hanging out with her friends and going shopping. Her favorite class is Culinary Arts, her favorite movie is The Hangover, her favorite food is pizza, and her favorite restaurant is Pizza Hut Wing Street.
Three words that would best describe Korbee are outgoing, energetic, and determined. Her advice to underclassmen is enjoy high school, get involved as much as you can, and take all of the risks because it goes by really fast.
We wish Korbee the best of luck, and we hope she is successful in her future endeavors!
