Riley Van Dyke, Nevaeh Zulkoski, and Brayden Loseke Named Final “Students of the Month”

Every month Leigh High School announces three students that have noticeably gone above and beyond. These are the ‘Students of the Month’. This year’s final students of the month were Neveah Zulkoski, Brayden Loseke, and Riley Van Dyke.

Our first winner was Neveah Zulkoski. Her parents and step-parents are Phil and Kelly Wendt of Leigh and Ross and Becca Zulkoski of Columbus. Her grandparents are Kathy and Jerry Bierman of Columbus, Kenny and Ellie Zulkoski of Columbus, Rick and Lori Wendt of Leigh, Jim and Rita Kouba outside of Bruno, and JC and Sue Givens of Kimberly, Idaho. Her great grandparents are Gene and Mary Bierman of Columbus.

Neveah is very involved in the community with volleyball, basketball, FFA, yearbook, Journalism, and YAC.  Neveah says she doesn't really have a favorite subject. She likes a lot of the classes she is in and enjoys learning about them. Some of those classes consist of English, Science, Math, Ag, and History. S

ome of her favorite hobbies outside of school consist of her church youth group, four-wheeling on the river, and anything to do with the lake. She also likes hanging out with her friends. As for future plans Neveah is thinking about going into the healthcare field. She is interested in PA, CRNA, Surgical Tech, or First Assist. She is also considering something in the business field.

This is Neveah’s first time winning this award. She says, “It makes me feel like my hard work is paying off and being noticed. I feel honored to achieve this award and I will continue to be diligent.”

Her teachers said that she is always in a “great positive mood. She is involved in so many things in this school. She works very hard in school and also with her extracurricular activities.”

Our next winner of ‘Student of the Month’ is senior Riley Van Dyke. His parents are Casey and Gina Van Dyke. His grandparents are Dave and Judy Olmer, and Glen and Amy Van Dyke.

Riley plays an important role on the Patriot Stream Team. Riley says he enjoys computer science class. Some of his favorite hobbies outside of school include gaming, origami, and yard work. Riley is looking forward to going to Northeast Community College for Informational Technology.

This is Riley’s first time winning this award and he says, “Winning this award is showing that my extra efforts this year are paying off.” Riley’s teachers say that he works hard in class, and is always respectful and polite. He is very important to the Stream Team and is very skilled  with technology.

And last but not least, our third winner is Brayden Loseke. He is the son of Brett and Kim Loseke of Leigh. And the grandson of Rick and Judy Loseke, and Marv Janssen and the late Janet Janssen.

Some extracurricular activities that Brayden is involved in are FBLA, Stream Team, YAC, Quiz Bowl, Speech, and Journalism. Brayden’s favorite classes in school are History and Science.

His favorite hobbies outside of school are reading and playing video games. Right now, Brayden is planning on attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for engineering. Brayden isn’t a new face when it comes to this award, as it’s his second time winning it.

Brayden said, “I'm glad to end the year on a high note. I hope that I can continue to do well next year.”

Brayden’s teachers had nothing but great things to say about Brayden. They said he is an insightful kid who values learning for the sake of learning. He is awesome to have an intellectual conversation on just about any topic under the sun. He is also very involved in school, does very well in all his classes, gets along with his classmates, and has a great sense of humor.
