Mrs. Ann Sobota Joins LCS Staff
Let’s meet one of the new LCS teachers this year, Mrs. Ann Sobota! She is the new Kindergarten teacher due to the class being split into two classes this year. She will teach alongside Mrs. Michkayla Wietfeld.
Mrs. Sobota just turned 30 this summer. Her husband is Kaleb Sobota, a local farmer who also sells Channel Seed. They have been happily married for 8 years and have 3 kids. Braelyn is their oldest and she’s in 1st grade at LCS. Haisley is the middle child and is in afternoon preschool. Cooper is their youngest, and he is 7 months old. Both girls are in dance and soccer. All of Mrs. Sobota’s kids love being outside, and the girls love helping on the farm. Cooper loves going to watch his sisters at all their activities.
Mrs. Sobota went to Wayne State College for her undergraduate and graduate programs. She received her undergraduate in Early Childhood Inclusive Birth-Grade 3 in 2016. Then she went on to finish her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Elementary Education in 2019. This past December, she finished her second masters in Administration in PK-6. Fun fact, while at Wayne, she was their Feature Baton Twirler for their marching band!
Mrs. Sobota previously taught at Schuyler Elementary. In 2023, she was awarded the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation “Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year” award for incorporating agriculture into her classroom.
Mrs. Sobota’s hobbies pretty much consist of being her kids' personal chauffeur. Most nights you’ll find her driving one or both of her kids to soccer or dance. When she does have free time, she loves going to Omaha to see her family and do a little shopping!
We wish Mrs. Sobota luck on her first year teaching here at Leigh, and we are lucky to have her teaching our students!
