Sophomores Job Shadows Various Careers
As part of their final project for their Exploratory Careers class, the sophomore class at Leigh High School shadowed the occupation of their choosing on Tuesday, December 12.
Half of the class went to Columbus to job shadow and the other half of the class went to Norfolk. Mrs. Megan Hillen and Mrs. Justine Fischer were the chaperones for the day.
The student got to job shadow for three hours that morning. The students got to see what the career they pick consisted of and what a typical day is like. It was a very educational experience for the students.
The students chose the following places to observe:
Taylor Larson--Heartland Pediatrics; Alexis Schroeder--Green Line Equipment; Carson Ahrens--Model Electric. Morgan Voborny--Great Plains Diesel; Nestor Mendoza--Army Recruiting Station. Taya Gross--Lost Creek Elementary. Payje Rayback--Centennial Elementary. Abbi Brabec--Little Messengers Daycare; Reagan Settje--Emerson Elementary. Natalie Reeves--Columbus Community Hospital, OB-Gyn Unit.
Nestor Mendoza said, “This experience taught me a lot about the military. It was a great experience.”
Mrs. Megan Hillen said, “The feedback received from the sophomore class after their job shadow proved it was a valuable experience. Many of the students were able to gain insight into the career fields they are considering and were able to learn from a professional in their researched field.”
