LHS Students Participate in Hwy 91 Career Fair Event
Launch the media gallery 1 playerOn the October 4, grades 10-12 from Leigh Community Schools traveled to Clarkson High School for the first annual “Highway 91” Career Fair.
Leigh students were joined by other area schools Howells-Dodge, Humphrey High, Clarkson, and St. Edward.
Students started the day out by listening to guest speaker Demoine Adams. Demoine is an inspirational speaker and former Nebraska Cornhusker Football player.
Following the keynote, students then had the opportunity to talk with businesses or entrepreneurs of their choice. Over 55 area employees and business owners were on hand to talk to students from all kinds of career fields from healthcare to education to agriculture and more!
Students also participated in breakout sessions by grade. Sophomores worked on resume building. Juniors learned job skills for getting and keeping a job. Seniors participated in mock interviews with area business owners!
Dalton Zulkoski, a senior at LHS, shared his thoughts on the day: “It was a good experience to learn more about a career you might choose. I think most people had a career they were interested in and were able to gain some more information about it than they already knew. Overall they need to do this annually.”
Mrs. Gall, the guidance counselor at Leigh High School was very excited about the career day and said, “It was very rewarding to see everything come together, as the Highway 91 counselors have been working on making this day happen since last spring! The involvement from each of our communities and surrounding areas really gave all of our students an awesome opportunity for career exploration. We are so excited to make this an annual event!”
