Senior Spotlight: Paige Kurpgeweit

On the 17th of July, 2007, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Paige Jentrie Kurpgeweit was welcomed into this world. Her parents are Chris and Shandra Kurpgeweit, and she has a sister Callie Gaskel, 22. Paige’s grandparents are Marlyn and Stanley Settje of Leigh, and Kathy and the late Geno Turpin of Bassett. She also has a cat named KitKat.

Some school activities that Paige has participated in are Choir, Stream Team, Vision Board, and One-Act for 4 years, golf, FFA, FBLA and yearbook for 3 years, and band for 2 years.  Paige is also a member of St. John’s Church Luther League.

Paige has received letters in Choir, Band, Golf, One Act, Digital Design, and FBLA. Another honor she has received is qualifying for the East Husker Conference Honor Choir for 4 years in a row and the State FFA Honor Choir for the past 3 years.

Outside of her school activities, you might find Paige working at her part-time job at Fits & Giggles Daycare in Leigh.

Paige’s proudest high school accomplishment is making it to the East Husker Conference Honor Choir all four years.

Paige’s future plans are to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University and to major in Athletic Training.

We asked the question, “If you won the lottery, what would you do with it?” Paige said she would pay off all her student loans and buy a house because houses aren't cheap and she will need one in the future.

Paige said if she could travel anywhere in the world she would travel to Italy because it sounds like an amazing place and because she loves pasta.

Three words that describe her are ambitious, energetic, and curious.

Paige sees herself in 10-15 years working as an athletic trainer with a husband and two children.

Three goals on Paige’s bucket list are to go and watch the Monaco Grand Prix, swim with dolphins, and learn to play guitar.

Someone Paige admires is her cousin, Aaron. She says Aaron has accomplished so much in his life and he’s already finished four years of college and is almost done with pharmacy school. Aaron has also been there for her no matter what, even though he takes 3-4 business days to respond to a text.

Paige’s favorite high school memory is finding out that she made it to state FFA in senior public speaking. She says, “I thought I wasn’t going to make top five in finals because I had shaved off one minute of my speech because I was talking so fast.”

Paige’s favorite hobbies are to hang out with friends, watch TV, and scroll through funny memes and send them to family members.

Some of Paige’s other favorites include her favorite subject, choir, the TV show “Ginny and Georgia,” the song “Man on the Moon” by Megan Moroney, the restaurant Norma’s Kitchen, and the sports team Nebraska Huskers.

She says her most embarrassing moment is running into Mr. J Bachman's classroom door.  Her worst bad habit is biting her nails.

Paige’s advice to underclassmen is “Enjoy your time here in school while you can. It’s an amazing place. I know people go through ups and downs throughout their years here, but it’s all worthwhile because of the people you meet, the experiences, and memories you gain.”

Good luck to Paige and with what the future has to offer!
