COVID UPDATE 11/19/2020
On November 13th, Governor Ricketts released an updated directed health measure (DHM). This was in response to an increase in COVID related hospitalizations. The entire state was placed into the orange threshold level due to more than 20% of hospitalizations being COVID related. Orange is the second highest level. The highest, red, would go into effect if at least 25% of hospitalizations were COVID related. Here are the two major take-aways for schools at this time:
- Schools may remain open
- Attendance at school related activities is restricted to household members of those students involved in the event. Under these guidelines, attendance still must remain under 25% capacity.
Leigh has seen an increase in the number of cases in our community. Leigh Community Schools is committed to staying open to serve our students. We do need to prepare for the possibility of remote learning if mandated by the state or if staffing shortages would cause in-person learning to become unworkable. We truly hope to avoid a move to remote learning. To that end, there are some basic steps to follow:
To reduce community spread, we remind everyone to avoid the Three C’s:
- Crowded Places
- Close Contact
- Confined Spaces
We stress the importance of wearing masks when social distancing is not feasible. We are doing this both during the school day and at activities. In addition, thorough hand washing or sanitizing is helpful in the fight against the spread.
We ask that everyone continues to work together in addressing COVID concerns and minimizing risks. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students and staff safe.
